LNOC COLLABORATE WITH PARTNERS TO TRAIN TEACHERS ON SAFEGUARDING IN LERIBE SCHOOLS

The Lesotho National Olympic Committee which also serves as the Commonwealth Games Association of Lesotho has been granted an opportunity by the Commonwealth Sport Foundation to implement is strategic objective 2.3 that of “Promoting sport as a tool for prevention of social conflicts & crime, promotion of good health and as a career opportunity”. The initiative was conducted through the training of Teachers from Twelve (12) High Schools in Leribe District on Tuesday, the 28th February 2023.The activity was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Sports, Department of Social Development, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Police through Child and Gender Protection Unit (CGPU). The objective of the training was to equip teachers with knowledge and skills on the following: Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE); Causes of exploitation & harassment in school settings; Child protection ; Safeguarding ; Human Rights ; Legal Frameworks (Applicable laws); Code of Conduct; and Case Reporting Mechanisms. The activity was also aimed to raise awareness on harassment and abuse, change perceptions in society on gender roles and inequalities.
