AFRICAN BEACH GAMES SILVER MEDALISTS AWARDED

The Lesotho National Olympic Committee has embarked on a new initiative of awarding athletes for exceptional performances in international games.
The first athletes to benefit from this programme, dual silver medallists in the African Beach Games – Mokulubete MAKATISI and Tebello RAMAKONGOANA, were yesterday awarded by the Honourable Minister of Sports.
Their award came after winning silver medals in both the 10km individual and team races in those games held in Hammamet, Tunisia. Both athletes were each awarded with a cheque amounting to M45,000.00.
Let’s congratulate them for their endeavour preparation for upcoming Paris2024 Olympic Games.

LESOTHO ON THE PODIUM FOR AFRICAN BEACH GAMES 2023

HAMMAMET, June 27, 2023 – Ethiopian Adisu Girma TOLA won the beach marathon event on Tuesday, as part of the second edition of the African Beach Games (Hammamet-2023), by covering the 10 km in 28:52. More than 70 athletes took part in this 10km road race.
The second place went to Tebello RAMAKONGOANA from Lesotho (28:58), while the third position was obtained by Moumin Bouh GULLEH from Djibouti ((29:05).
Among the women, Djibouti’s Samya Hassan NOUR won in 32:18 ahead of Mokulubete Blandina MAKATISI of Lesotho (33:15) and Algeria’s Souad Ait SALEM (33:26).
In the team competition, Lesotho beat the usually dominating Ethiopian team – finishing with a silver medal, with Djibouti taking the gold.

THE LESOTHO NATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (LNOC) CAPACITATES LESOTHO DEFENCE FORCE (LDF) OFFICERS ON SPORT ADMINISTRATION

The LNOC has recognised the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) as a key partner in the development of sports in the country. In that respect, the LNOC has organised a special training course to capacitate thirty- five (35) LDF officers in sports management. The Sports Administration Course (SAC Level I) was launched today Monday, the 12th June and it will end to Friday, the 16th June 2023.
Present at the official opening of the course were the Honourable Minister of Sports – Hon. Pitso LESAOANA accompanied by Brigadier MOHOBO on behalf of Commander LDF and LSRC President Mr. Litsitso MOTSEREMELI.

THE LESOTHO NATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (LNOC) CAPACITATES LESOTHO MOUNTED POLICE SERVICE OFFICERS ON SPORT ADMINISTRATION

The LNOC has established relationship with the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) in a view of developing capacity on Sports Administration for LMPS Officers within their different stations of deployment. Thirty- Five (35) officers are capacitated. The Sports Administration Courses (SAC Level I) was launched on Monday, the 05th June and it will end to Friday, the 09th June 2023. The official launch was made by the Honourable Minister of Sports – Hon. Pitso LESAOANA with a presence of the Commissioner of Police, COMPOL Holomo MOLIBELI, LSRC President Mr. Litsitso MOTSEREMELI and LNOC Vice President Finance Dr. Lebohang KHOMARI.

LESOTHO CYCLING TEAM TO COMPETE IN CAC MTB AFRICAN CHAMPOINSHIP 2023 IN JOHANNESBURG

Lesotho Cycling Team will be attending the CAC MTB African Champoinship 2023 to be held in Johannesburg – South Africa at Thaba Trails from the 2nd-4th of June 2023. The team will be represented by Tumelo MAKAE , Phetetso MONESE and Eric RAMOHANOE in the Mens category while Ts’episo LERATA will be competing in the Female category. The games also forms part of their Olympic qualifier and preparation to 2023 World Championships in Glasgow from 2nd to 13th August 2023.

Michelle Tau wins silver at the Presidents Cup in Cairo, Egypt

Michelle Tau has done it again and this time around she won a silver medal from competing at the Presidents Cup on Saturday the 18th February 2023 in Cairo, Egypt. This follows on from the Gold Medal she won in the Egypt Open earlier last week. Both competitions were ranked at G1 and G2 World Taekwondo Standards and will contribute to her world rankings. She is currently competing in the women`s under 46kg category whereas in the Olympic Games she will be competing in the women`s under 49kg category if she qualifies.

Sports Administration level 1

The Lesotho National Olympic Committee is conducting a five day Sport Administration Course for Sport Administrators, Coaches and Athletes at its premises. The Level I Course started on Monday, the 6 February and will end on Friday, the 10 February 2023. The course which is funded by the Olympic Solidarity, intends to equip and capacitate the participants with Administration skills. For purposes of comprehensive knowledge, the participants are introduced to issues pertaining to Safe Guarding in Sports, Anti- Doping and Protection of Clean Athletes, Gender Equality and Diversity and the History of Olympic Movement.

The Lesotho National Olympic Community once again celebrates the Refugees Day; which recognises the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home countries to escape conflict or persecution.
