The Lesotho National Olympic Committee had an Orientation for the National Federations as well as Media Houses on its developed Communications and Marketing Strategy  on Saturday the 05 February 2022 at Mojalefa Lephole Convention Center Moshoeshoe 2. Mosito LEHATA , Track and field (400m or less) runner ,has been sanctioned for five (5) years period of ineligibility starting from 09th June 2021 until 08th June 2026 ( Midnight) for violation of Lesotho National Anti- Doping Rules; SAIDS Anti-Doping Rules and World Anti- Doping Code  for confirmed presence of Salbutamol in a sample collection number 4529285 , a mission conducted during in-competition testing on March 2021 South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport.

Queens Baton Relay 2021

Lesotho is among 72 countries that are going to participate in the Commonwealth Games in England Birmingham from 28 July to 08 August 2022.

Lesotho will welcome the Queen’s Baton for the 5th time after the global relay was officially launched by the Queen of England. The Queen’s Baton travels 140000km in 294-day journey through 72 Commonwealth Nations and territories ahead of the Birmingham games in 2022 and will arrive in Lesotho on Sunday the 19th December 2021. It travels the world until it reaches the city of the Games ready for the Opening Ceremony.

World Clean-up Day

Lesotho National Olympic Committee, Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission as well as Ministry of Gender, Youth, Sports and Recreation celebrated a World Clean Up Day at Lepereng today.
In that activity, the LNOC president Mrs ‘Matlohang Ramoqopo encouraged everyone to see to it that hygiene is practiced in our daily life. She even indicated that Lesotho is going to host AUSC Region 5 games in December this year hence people need to make sure that our country is clean.

INTERNATIONAL SESSION FOR YOUNG PARTICIPANTS

The two week annual session, traditionally held in June or July session was to be held in Greece however due to the reigning covid19 pandemic the 61st 2021 session will be held virtually and it is designed as an introduction to Olympism and the Olympic Movement. The IOA brings together a large international group of young people who are primarily students, Olympic athletes, people active in sport, teaching or active in their respective NOCs or NOAs.
The aim of the IOA is to educate, but more importantly, to motivate young people to use their experiences and knowledge gained from the Session productively in promoting the Olympic Ideals and educating others in their own countries.

Day one was successfully spent of which Lesotho National Olympic Committee celebrated the Olympic Day in Thaba Tseka. The activities of the day included the trees planting, giving balls to three identified schools, and giving maize meal to vulnerable families.

Olympic Day Celebration

The Olympics Day celebration which was supposed to take place on the 28 and 29 August 2021 is postponed to 04 and 05 September 2021. It is still going to be celebrated in Thaba Tseka district at Pitso House, and some activities will take place at Mohlanapeng. All covid19 precautions Will be observed and people are encouraged to come wearing their masks.

Team Lesotho send off ceremony

A send off ceremony for Team Lesotho was held at Victoria Hotel today. This was purposely done to wish good luck for two qualified marathoners Seutloali Khoarahlane and Nneheng Khatala.
In this special event many guests were invited from local media, local sponsors, parents of both athletes, and Honorable Minister Likeleli Tampane.
Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC) president Mr Jobo Rasoko indicated that these two marathoners will definitely bring back home medals from this Olympic Games.
In addition to this, on behalf of Lesotho National Olympic Committee’s president, Mr Tlali Rampooana also elucidated that this two people should always bear in their mind that the National flag is on their shoulders, hence they should work hard to bring victory home...
