Rising star, Mamakoli SENAUOANA has arrived in Pretoria ahead of a ten-day bid to qualify for the Athletics World Championships in Tokyo in September.
SENAUOANA is in scintillating form this season – having smashed her own National Record in the 400m event on three occasions thus far. Her current best time of 52.31s falls short of the 50.75s automatic qualifying time, but an additional 19 places in the championships are reserved for athletes in world rankings.
The world ranking process is complicated and uses a combination of the five (5) best times or best results in major tournaments to give a ranking score. Mamakoli currently stands in 112th rank with 1083 points but stands to move up considerably if she runs fast times in the next few races.
She will be competing in the AGN Open League in Pretoria on 17/05, ACNW League 9 in Potchefstroom on 20/05 and ACNW League 10 again in Potchefstroom on 24/05.
We wish Mamakoli and the Federation of Athletics Lesotho the best of luck in their bid to qualify for Tokyo 2025.
