This weekend, LNOC was proud to be part of the 21km Mountain Marathon in Qacha’s Nek! Our team managed the finish line aid station and promoted anti-doping awareness among participants. Congratulations to all runners for their impressive performances on this challenging course with over 700m of elevation! 👏🌄

IOC PRESIDENT’S VISIT TO LESOTHO

Lesotho, get ready for an inspiring visit! Dr. Thomas Bach OLY, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), will arrive on October 21, 2024. His visit includes courtesy calls with key government figures; and meet with athletes, Olympians, Media and sports leaders to discuss ideas and foster collaboration. He’ll also tour the sporting facilities in Maseru. This was presented before the Media houses at a Press Conference held at LNOC Boardroom earlier today.

VOLLEYBALL LEVEL 2 TECHNICAL COURSE FOR COACHES

Lesotho Volleyball Association is hosting a regional FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) Level II Technical Course for Coaches from 26-30 August 2024.
The course, being held at Global Guest House, Naleli, has attracted volleyball coaches from Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe and is being conducted by Mr. Bernard DENIS, an expert instructor from Seychelles.
The course is made possible through an Olympic Solidarity programme offered through Lesotho National Olympic Committee.

Olympic Day Celebration Qacha’s Nek

The LNOC completed its circle of activities for commemoration of Olympic Day 2024. The event’s theme was “Let’s Move.” The last event was held on the 25th of August in Qacha’s Nek at Ha Mpiti. The activities included a 10km walk, sporting activities, archery and karate demonstrations, and cultural performances. The LNOC President presented to the participants the Olympic marathoner Tebello RAMAKONGOANA. The IOC Member Ms. Matlohang MOILOA-RAMOQOPO read the IOC President’s message for the celebration of Olympic Day.

LNOC LAUNCHED SPORTS ADMINISTRATION COURSE LEVEL I FOR QACHAS NEK SPORT ADMINISTRATORS

The Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) conducted Sports Administration Course Level I. The course was launched in Qachas Nek from Monday, the 29th July 2024 and ended on Friday, the 02nd August 2024. The course provides primary content for the learning experience and it consists of six modules, which are: The Foundations of Olympic Movement; Financing Olympic Movement; Olympic Values; Anti- Doping; Safeguarding in Sports; Developing Athletes; Athlete 365; Sports Science; Technology in Sports; Driving Social Change through Sports; Developing Coaching leadership; Inclusive and Gender equality; Sustainability in Sports; Sports Ethics; and Arbitration Dispute Resolution.

LNOC AFRISKI WINTER SPORTS EXTRAVAGANZA

The LNOC in collaboration with AFRISKI Mountain Resort has organised the first ever Ski Experience dubbed Winter Sports Extravaganza . The activity is held from today the 30th to 31st July 2024. The purpose is to provide children aged between nine (09) and Fifteen (15) with a unique opportunity to participate in winter sports comprising Skiing and Snowboarding which are generally under represented in our region. One hundred (100) Children who participate will not only engage in physical activity but will also learn valuable life qualities such as collaboration, discipline, and resilience.

LAUNCH OF COMMUNITY DIALOGUE AT NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF LESOTHO ON NON – INCIDENTAL VIOLENCE

As part of the Mathomo Project, the National University of Lesotho (NUL) Department of Student Affairs (DSA) in partnership with the Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) is hosting the Community Leaders Dialogue on Non Incidental Violence scheduled over the next two and a half days of the 24th, 25th, and 26th of July 2024 under the theme of ” Safeguarding the Roma Community from the Non-Incidental Violence” . The dialogue was officially opened by the substantive Pro. Vice Chancellor acting as Vice Chancellor – Professor Kananelo E MOSITO (KC).

XXIII LNOC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2024

Good governance is one of the core pillars and values that the LNOC commits to employ . The XXIII Annual General Assembly was held yesterday in Maseru. The main purpose of the meeting was to present reports for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. Additionally, the General Assembly adopted the Constitution amendments. The General Assembly also welcomed new members federations which are Federation of Archery Lesotho and Federation of Teqball Lesotho as full members.

MOKHOTHO ELECTED TO COMMONWEALTH SPORT ATHLETES’ ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Congratulations to our own, Moroke MOKHOTHO, who has been elected as the Commonwealth Sport Athletes’ Advisor Committee representative for Africa.
This is, indeed, a high honour for the former boxing superstar to be sitting on such a prestigious platform and representing the continent.
MOKHOTHO is the chairperson of the Lesotho Athlete’s Commission, which also gives him a seat on the LNOC Board.
As an athlete, MOKHOTHO competed in three editions of the Commonwealth Games – Glasgow 2014, Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022 – but his crowning moment was in qualifying and competing in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Since his retirement in 2022, he has been relentless in his pursuit to develop his beloved sport of boxing and improve the lives of athletes of all sporting codes...

THE LESOTHO NATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (LNOC) CAPACITATES LESOTHO MOUNTED POLICE SERVICE OFFICERS ON SPORT ADMINISTRATION LEVEL II

Following the established relationship with the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS), the LNOC launched the Sports Administration Course Level II for Thirty- Five (35) Police Officers in Maseru Yesterday and it will end on Friday, the 28th June 2024. This follows the Sports Administration Course Level I which was conducted in 2023.
The official launch was made by the LNOC CEO with a presence of the Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Ezekiel SENTI.
This initiative responds towards the LNOC’s Strategic Key Focus Area 2: Customer & Stakeholders Relationship Management; Goal: Consistently increasing value to Stakeholders; Strategic Objective 2.4: Empower and capacitate sports leaders with essentials skills.
