LNOC CELEBRATES WORLD WATER DAY

The LNOC through its Sustainability Commission and in collaboration with the Lesotho Aquatics Federation, LSRC, Federation of Rowing Lesotho, RENOKA, and other key partners, successfully concluded the commemoration of World Water Day at Ha Mopeli in Botha-Bothe.

This year’s celebration was held under the theme “Gender and Water,” highlighting the critical role that equitable access to water resources plays in promoting gender equality and sustainable development.

The event brought together stakeholders from various sectors to raise awareness and foster community engagement around water conservation, safety, and inclusive participation in water-related activities.

A variety of engaging and educational activities were conducted, including demonstrations of open water swimming, rowing, and canoeing. These practical sessions aimed not only to promote aquatic sports but also to enhance public understanding of water safety and responsible water usage.

The Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) was also featured as part of the day’s activities, reinforcing the importance of Excellence, Respect, and Friendship within the context of sport and community development.

The event was attended by guests and dignitaries from the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Environment, and the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA), reflecting strong institutional support for initiatives that integrate sport, sustainability, and community well-being.
